Learn. Adapt. Serve. Love.
At First Presbyterian Church, we desire the gospel to be at the core of everything we do. If the Special Needs Ministry is doing this effectively, it means that our families and individuals with special needs are venturing deeper in their understanding of and appreciation for the cross of Christ, as it applies to the whole of the Christian life.
The Special Needs Ministry guides the church in learning, adapting, serving, and loving those with and affected by special needs. God's word tells us in Luke 14:13 that we are to care for the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. Our church continues to proactively pursue those afflicted with and by special needs as part of its greater discipleship and ministry role in our community.

Special Friends Sunday School Class
Sunday School provides a place for individuals with various abilities, alongside their families, to develop a personal relationship with Jesus through understanding God's love and studying his Word.
Friendship Club
The Friendship Club takes place during the Sunday evening worship service. The Friends gather together to sing hymns, enjoy a lesson from Scripture, and have fellowship alongside volunteers who range from high schoolers to senior adults.
Sports Saturdays
The goal of the Sports Ministry is to include special needs Friends and their families in special sports days so they can have fun, develop new relationships, and experience the love of Jesus. There are several events each year in the Family Life Center.
ARISE @ First
ARISE @ First is a monthly gathering of post-high school special needs friends from around the Midlands for social development and spiritual growth. We match each Friend with a Buddy from our College and Young Professionals Ministries who help them mingle, have conversation over dinner, worship in song, and listen during devotion with our pastors and pastoral interns.
