Special Friends Sunday School Class
Special Friends Sunday School is for special needs students of all ages and is split into age-appropriate groups. Sunday School provides a place for individuals with various disabilities, alongside their families, to develop a personal relationship with Jesus through understanding God’s love and studying His Word. This class meets in the Education Building Room 201.
Many of the special needs students were sensorially overwhelmed in the Sunday night Club programs and it became apparent that a Special Needs alternative was needed. Modeled after Friendship Ministries, the Friendship Club runs during the Sunday Evening Worship Service. The Friends gather together to sing hymns, enjoy a lesson from Scripture, and have fellowship in general alongside volunteers that range from high schoolers to senior adults. This club meets in the Education Building Room 201. At this time, Friendship Club is not gathering due to COVID-19.
The goal of the Sports Ministry is to include special needs Friends and their families in special sports days so they can have fun, develop new relationships, and experience the love of Jesus. There are several events per year in the FPC Gym followed by a family lunch.
[email protected] is a monthly gathering of post high school special needs friends from around the Midlands for social development and spiritual growth. We match each Friend with a Buddy from our College and Young Professionals Ministries who help them mingle, have conversation over dinner, worship in song, and listen during devotion with our pastors and pastoral interns. This dynamic program is currently filled and there is a waiting list.
