About First Presbyterian Church

An Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Columbia, South Carolina. 

In keeping with the Great Commission, First Presbyterian Church of Columbia aspires to be a dynamic Christian community within the heart of South Carolina, centered in the worship of God and bearing witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Where and when do you meet?

We gather for worship on Sundays.

What to expect during worship services?

Our two morning services at 8:30 AM and 11:15 AM are similar. Our services include Bible reading, preaching, congregational singing, prayers of confession, and thanksgiving. We also meet each week at 6:00 PM for an evening service that includes singing and preaching of the Bible.

What children's programs are available on Sundays? 

Our children's ministry offers a nursery for children aged birth - 3 years old during all three Sunday services. Children's Worship Bulletins are available in the Narthex for Beginning Readers and Readers. These bulletins provide activities that support the scripture passage and sermon topic.

What mid-week programs are offered?

  • Wednesdays@First from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM in Jackson Hall (lunch and teaching) 
  • Wednesday Centerpoint from 5:30 - 7:15 PM in Jackson Hall and Smith Chapel (dinner, teaching, and prayer)

How do I learn more and join the church?

Are you interested in learning more about First Presbyterian Church or looking to join? Our next Inquirers Class will begin on Sunday, March 9, 2025  This class will be held in the small dining room off Jackson Hall each Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. If you have any questions, please email Lisa Eargle. If you plan to attend, please register your attendance via the "Registration" button below.

  • Corner of Washington and Bull Streets
  • Corner of Lady and Bull Streets (1500 Lady Street)
  • Corner of Lady and Bull Streets (1420 Lady Street)
  • 1414 Lady Street, behind the Ministry House Columbia
  • 1400 Lady Street, behind The Bridge; enter from Marion Street
  • Ground level of Keenan parking garage (corner of Lady and Marion Streets); please do not block the loading dock.
  • Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union parking lot; please do not block the ATM lane; towing enforced 24/7.
  • Sweeny Wingate & Barrow parking lot on Lady Street @ Pickens Street
Additional parking is available in the parking lot and deck behind the Ministry Building; you may enter from Bull Street behind the church parking lot or on Gervais Street (ground level only).
Please do not block entrances or exits to parking lots.
