2024 Sacrificial Easter Offering

Since 2008, the Special Easter Offering has gone to support the spread of the gospel around the globe. Another opportunity to encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ is, once again, before us.

The 2024 Sacrificial Easter Offering will go to support Global Theological Training and Church Planting.

About Africa Reformed Theological Seminary (ARTS)

Kampala, Uganda

Africa Reformation Theological Seminary (ARTS) is a graduate level school in Kampala, Uganda, that equips pastors, church planters, and leaders for gospel ministry. They are currently in the process of building new housing facilities to accommodate the growing number of students.  They also offer scholarships to students who need financial assistance. First Presbyterian Church has a long history with the work in Uganda that dates
to the first Easter Offering in 2008.  We have worked alongside missionaries Dave and Darlene Eby to help churches in Uganda financially and with short-term medical mission teams to help reach the people of Uganda with the gospel.  ARTS works in relationship with the Reformed Church of Eastern Africa (RCEA) and other churches to plant confessionally reformed churches throughout the continent of Africa.

About SEED Ministry

Uganda, East Africa | Rwanda, East Africa | Pakistan, South Asia

The SEED Ministry is the Global South Initiative of World Witness.  “SEED” stands for “Serving by Educating, Equipping, and Discipling Church Leaders”.  In 2023, the “SEED” ministry entered into a partnership with Erskine Theological Seminary so that the graduates of the program will receive a Global Diploma in Theology and Christian Leadership.  The SEED team consists of 5 full-time World Witness missionary families (the Brickeys, Cottens, Gallettas, Goodmans, and Shelnutts),
3 full time in-country assistants, and one International Missionary Associate (Benjamin Mushuhukye, in Rwanda).  The team ministers to nearly 200 students in Rwanda and Pakistan.  In addition to the present theological and pastoral training being provided, the ministry is developing and implementing other discipleship ministries and is looking to expand to other areas of ministry in East-Central Africa as well.

About Bearsden Church Plant

Glasgow, Scotland

A recent survey found that around 1.5% of the Greater Glasgow residents attend what could be considered a broadly evangelical church. In a country that used to be known as “The Land of the Book,” God’s Word is neither widely known nor proclaimed. In response, the Free Church of Scotland is pressing forward with a God-sized vision of planting 30 new churches by 2030. In May of 2023, Crow Road Free Church’s leadership asked
one of their elders, Ross Macaskill, and their Associate Minister, Nate Taylor, to gather a core group to plant a new congregation in an area of Glasgow called Bearsden. Included in the number is Ellen and David Lockington and their two children, and the daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren of our former Senior Minister and his wife, Dr. and Mrs. Derek Thomas.
