J. A. C. Redford's "Martyrdom of Polycarp" by the USC Concert Choir

Under the direction of Dr. Larry Wyatt, the University of South Carolina Concert Choir presents J.A.C. Redford’s oratorio for soloists, chorus, and orchestra, originally co-commissioned by First Presbyterian Church and the USC Choral Department in 2003. Soloists Jacob Will, bass, and Andrew Stuckey, baritone, will be performing.

In addition, at 6:30 p.m., in the Smith Chapel, Dr. Mark Ross and J.A.C. Redford will host a pre-concert discussion on Polycarp and the writing of this music.

Clarinet Recital, Joe Eller

Joe Eller, professor of clarinet at the USC School of Music and member of First Presbyterian Church, is joined by faculty colleagues, pianist Lynn Kompass and violist Daniel Sweaney, as well as fellow church member, soprano Holly Cole, to present an evening of intimate chamber music. Good Friday Concert

Our Chancel Choir, Chamber Choir and professional orchestra, conducted by Daniel Cole, perform Bernstein’s “Chichester Psalms,”John Adams’ “Christian Zeal and Activity,” and “Tegel Passion” by N. Lincoln Hanks, a recently composed dramatic cantata set to words by German theologican and martyr, Dietrich Bonhoeffer. This concert will commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Dietrich Bonhoeffer's execution. No Admission. A goodwill offering will be taken up for Westminster Theological College and Seminary in Uganda.
