For the past several years, First Presbyterian Church has had the privilege of supporting world ministries that involve the work of specific First Presbyterian Church members. The 2021 Special Easter Offering will go to further support three such ministries around the world. Please consider supporting these ministries and our brothers and sisters through the following opportunities:
Haiti Under God: ChaCha Mountain, Haiti
Board Members: Bruce Williams, CEO, Scott Timmons, Chairman, Rev. David Lauten, Dr. Benji Ingram, Kevin Vickery, Brad Stutts, Wayne Ridgeway, Jason Reynolds, and Paul Riddle
Haiti Under God (HUG), a Christian organization, began as a group of friends performing mission work in Haiti. Today it feeds children, manages construction projects, provides evangelism training, hosts women’s and family conferences, and offers vision and medical clinics – all with the goal of changing lives through Jesus Christ. Funds are needed to support the distribution of solar Bibles and solar backpacks to the people of ChaCha mountain. Additionally, Haiti Under God is working to build a new multi-purpose building on ChaCha.

Faculté Libre de Théologie Évangelique and the ImagoDei Project: France
Dr. Doris Stephens
Dr. Doris Stephens has been a member of First Presbyterian Columbia since 1996. She has been very active in the church and is an ordained deacon. One of her many interests has been the world missions programs of the church. Doris studied in France in 1970 and has a heart for the French-speaking people in France, Guadeloupe, and Africa.
In 2014 at the advice of Dr. Ferguson and Pastor Mathias, Doris went to France to explore possible mission opportunities. As a result, she began work with the evangelical seminary, the Faculté Libre de Théologie Évangélique. (FLTE. www.flte.fr ) Doris engaged two First Presbyterians members, Chris Lampman and Dr. Daniel Janosik, to assist in creating an e-learning program for the seminary, which now leads to a bachelor’s degree or a Certificate in Theological Studies.
In 2018 Doris met Raphael Anzenberger, then missionary in residence at CIU. This led to her participation on the Board of Directors of the ImagoDei project, which seeks to make known the Gospel in all major spheres of influence within society.
The needs have never been greater in France where 58% of the country is atheist, agnostic or deist. The Easter offering will help support the work Doris is doing with the FLTE and with ImagoDei.
