The mission of Women’s Ministry Small Groups is simply for women to come alongside and encourage one another in their Christian walks.
The groups will be designed to create an environment in which women of different generations can relate to one another as sisters in Christ through both prayer and the intentional and practical discussion of and reflection upon the Christian life. Through a question-based format that is intertwined with current teaching at the church, women will work together to sow righteousness, break up fallow ground and seek the LORD (Hosea 10:12).
• To provide an opportunity for the discussion, reflection, and application of the preaching and teaching that the women of FPC are already receiving.
• To facilitate opportunities for intergenerational fellowship among women with the hope that these groups will create an environment that is conducive to the natural development of the discipleship of younger women by older women in accordance with Titus 2:3-5.
• To have a program that is flexible enough to be easily accessible to women in different stages of life and parts of town.
• To have the framework of a program to offer to new members who are looking for a way to meet other women and become involved in the life of the church.
Intergenerational groups of 6-8 women that meet bi-weekly for fellowship, Scripture-based discussion, encouragement, and prayer.
Groups will meet in different parts of town on different days and at different times twice a month.
The groups will use pre-written questions that are designed to facilitate discussion around current teaching series at the church.
Facilitators will receive the discussion questions from church staff, guide the discussion within the groups, and would be responsible for keeping the group in contact with one another.
Sisters, I would like to encourage you to spend some time prayerfully contemplating your involvement in the life of our church and specifically with other women. Whether you are craving the type of community I hope will be found in these groups, or you are cringing as you think of your full schedule and are wondering how to fit one more thing on your plate, I hope you will consider both what you have to gain from your sisters in Christ and what you have to give to them. Dietrich Bonhoeffer says it simply in Life Together, “The physical presence of other Christians is a source of incomparable joy and strength to the believer.” It is my prayer that these small groups will be an immense encouragement to the Christian life of those who participate in them. Will you join us?
