Ministry OpportunitiesThe Congregational Outreach Committee of the Session has made available several opportunities for service and ministry in the Columbia area.
Good News Clubs—In conjunction with Child Evangelism Fellowship, First Presbyterian Church has had the exciting opportunity to enter the public schools with the gospel of Christ. For one afternoon a week throughout the school year volunteers from the church host a Good News Club for students. Volunteers are needed to help teach Bible lessons, sing songs, counsel interested children, and supervise the club. No experience is necessary, and Child Evangelism Fellowship provides training for all volunteers
The following opportunities exist:
Epworth Children's Home - Wednesdays, 5:00 p.m.
Brennen Elementary School - Tuesdays, 2:45 p.m.
Irmo Elementary School - Mondays, 2:15 p.m.
Logan Elementary School - Mondays, 2:15 p.m.
Christianity Explored—Over the past few years FPC has been engaged in running Christianity Explored courses as an instrument for the expansion of God’s Kingdom in Columbia. CE is a Bible study from the Gospel of Mark for people who would like to find out more about the Christian faith. Volunteers are always needed to facilitate the effort. (For more information)
